Safer By Design
Safer By Design is the name of our protection training programs for churches and their members. These programs cater to armed church security staff, church attendees, and the church location itself. We will work with churches to offer the following options:
Program One: Women's Only Handgun for Home Defense Ministry
This is a free ministry that caters to women that are interested in learning how to utilize a handgun for self-defense. These classes are for women only and is held in a group setting. Please feel free to contact us at saferbydesign@armitagetactical.com if you have any questions.
All three (3) levels need to be completed in sequence for the student to graduate from the program. Each session is approximately 3-4 hours in length. Eight to Ten (8-10) participants can be accommodated per course offering.
Level 1 - This session includes Self-Defense & Protection Mindset, Situational Awareness and Introduction to the Handgun. Most of the the weapon information will center around the use of semi-auto handguns. Other topics include: Basic Firearm Safety, Proper Storage, Pistol Calibers and Basic Operation/Function of a Semi-Auto Handgun.
*Note: Only plastic training weapons/replicas and accessories are used for the Level 1 session.
Level 2 - This session includes Review of Level 1, Fundamentals of Handling a Semi-Auto Handgun, Using a Handgun for Home Defense, Threat Mitigation, Response Planning Strategies, and "Static" Home Defense Scenario Training.
*Note: Only plastic training weapons/replicas and accessories are used for the Level 2 session. Please dress in comfortable clothing (T-Shirt, Jeans, Tennis Shoes, etc) and avoid wearing loose jewelry.
Level 3 - This session includes Review of Level 2, "Dynamic" Home Defense Scenario Training and Program Graduation.
*Note: Only plastic training weapons/replicas and accessories are used for the Level 3 session. Please dress in comfortable clothing (T-Shirt, Jeans, Tennis Shoes, etc) and avoid wearing loose jewelry.
Level 4 (Optional) - Woman's Beginner Handgun Live Fire. This is an option that may be added to the program. This course will be held at a local live fire range. Details will be discussed if this level is added.

Attack Prevention By Environmental Design
We conduct detailed site surveys and
vulnerability assessments for churches interested in reducing
opportunities for crime and/or mitigating risk for attack at their site.
These in-depth reports include stakeholder interviews,
a physical survey, an environmental assessment, detailed photographs,
a geographic crime analysis and specific recommendations for the location.
The assessment will also include recommendations on
improving access and response time for emergency personnel
in preparation for a critical incident at your location. Seconds matter...
The survey focuses on concepts of environmental design to help make
your location a harder target without a heavy emphasis on "target hardening".
"Target hardening" tends to institutionalize sites and deter potential attendees.
