The 40 Hr/5-Day Probation Field Training Officer (FTO) Certification Course will teach current and potential FTO's the necessary information on how to become an effective trainer. Students will receive FTO certification at the completion of the course. Topics include the History of Field Training Officer Programs, Trends in Field Training, Liability, Ethics, Leadership, FTO Responsibilities, Learning Styles, and how to become an effective FTO. Additionally, students will learn how to properly supervise and evaluate trainees during the field training process. Scenario based learning and other hands-on methods of teaching will also be introduced.
