Law Enforcement Firearms & Tactical Training

 

Please note: All LE training courses are for law enforcement/corrections agencies and their employees only.  ATG is a State of California approved Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) training provider.  Additionally, our instructors have California POST and NRA (Law Enforcement) certification.  Training sessions run approximately eight (8) hours in length unless specified otherwise.

bulletActive Shooter Response for LE Concealed Carry (LE)
 

The average “Active Shooter” situation ends in less than 8 minutes (post Columbine) and law enforcement is usually still en route to the location. Additionally, 25% of “Active Shooter” situations are foiled because of the heroics of a lone armed citizen. Therefore, if you carry a concealed weapon (on or off duty) this course is for you. Students will learn how to appropriately respond and engage an active shooter while in plain clothes capacity.  All necessary range gear and 350 rounds of handgun ammunition needed (8 hours). Prerequisite: General LE handgun training. 

 

 

bulletActive Shooter / Terrorist Response for Two (2) Officer Elements

This is an advanced 1 day course utilizing two-officer elements to respond to a single active shooter through multi-terrorist attack.  Students will learn to incorporate Multi-Assault Counter-Terrorism Action Capabilities (MAC TAC) and Israeli Special Forces tactics into their response.  The class is for active duty law enforcement only.

bulletAdvanced Handgun Tactics for LE
 

This is a range intensive course for all law enforcement officers. ATG will train intermediate/advanced level shooters (including firearm instructors) in advanced handgun tactics. This course will train officers in advanced field tactics to include building entry techniques, suspect tactics, scouting, counter surveillance, take down and contingency plans and perimeter containment.  Emphasis will also be placed on providing mutual aid to other law enforcement agencies. bulletBasic Entry & Team Tactics

 

 

This course will train officers and deputies in foundational building entry tactics for compliance checks, electronic monitoring residence verifications, pre-trial release/probation searches and violation arrests.  Additionally, suspect encounters, contact/cover and other tactical concepts will be discussed.  Conducting lawful searches and the legalities/case law surrounding these types of contacts will also be presented.  Students will learn multiple methods of doorway entry, interior movement and tactical team communication.  The course focuses on building strong fundamental concepts and tactics to help students form a solid foundation and be prepared to learn more advanced techniques.

 

Additionally, this class can be customized for Probation Officers. Since Probation Officers normally go in the field with 2 to 3 officers, practical force on force scenarios can include 2 officer, 3 officer and 4+ officer teams.  This class is taught by a Probation tactical unit officer and a SWAT officer.

bulletBasic Handgun for LE/Military Spouses

This range course will teach law enforcement / military spouses foundational techniques for employing a handgun in defensive situations.  This is a basic level course that introduces weapons handling, manipulation and foundational shooting tactics.  Additionally, students will be given information on how to defend their home and family when their law enforcement officer is not with them.  Scenario training for home defense and family protection will also be introduced.  ***The law enforcement officer / soldier can attend with their spouse for an additional fee.

This course is designed to increase a law enforcement (LE) officer’s level of proficiency in handgun combat tactics. bulletCombat Handgun II for Law Enforcement

 

 

This course is the sequel to Combat Handgun I.  However, there are no prerequisites.  Combat Handgun II focuses on close quarter shooting tactics.  A majority of officer involved shootings happen within zero to three yards (0-3).  Therefore, students will learn close quarter reactive shooting, extreme disadvantage shooting, and compressed weapon firing techniques.  Other topics include multiple target close quarter engagements, gun retention to presentation weapon deployment tactics, and in-fight aggressive action shooting.  All necessary range gear and 350 rounds of factory ammunition is required.  Prerequisite: General LE handgun training.  Click here for the promotional video

This course is the rifle version of our Combat Handgun for LE course.  It was designed to increase a law enforcement (LE) officer’s level of proficiency in rifle combat tactics. Armitage Tactical Group (ATG) will teach gun fighting for LE.  Learn how to work your rifle for close quarter combat and disadvantaged shooting.  ATG will also teach shooting on the move and working dynamically with your weapon.  This is a fast paced range intensive course.  Open to all law enforcement officers.  All necessary range gear and 350 rounds of factory ammunition required.  Prerequisite: General LE Rifle training.   Click here for the promotional video

 

 
bulletCombat Rifle II for Law Enforcement

 

 

 

This course is the sequel to Combat Rifle I.  Combat Rifle II for LE expands on close quarter combat tactics and introduces other advanced shooting techniques such as dynamic rifle to handgun transitions, vehicle deployment, precision fire-hostage rescue shooting, engaging multiple threats and tactical speed and posting techniques.  Students can use their agency issued or personally owned weapons for this course.  This is a fast paced range intensive course.  Open to all law enforcement officers.  All necessary range gear (including 3 magazines for both your rifle and handgun), 300 rounds of factory rifle ammunition, 100 rounds of factory handgun ammunition, and a rifle sling are required.  Red dot / holographic optics are recommended but not required.  Prerequisite:  ATG's "Combat Rifle I for LE"

 

bulletCombat Speed Shooting for Law Enforcement
 

This course is an excellent training for law enforcement officers who want to increase their speed and accuracy in preparation for a sudden combat situation.  Students will learn tactical speed shooting and shot placement techniques to increase hit ratios while on the move or during a reactive shooting situation.  Other topics include multi-target engagements, front sight posting techniques and reactive flash sight shooting.  Throughout the day, students will also compete against each other during individual and team oriented stress fire drills.  At the end of the course, shooters will have noticeably increased their combat shooting speed by at least one level.  All necessary range gear and 450 rounds of factory ammunition is required.   Click here for the promotional video

 

bulletCounter Ambush Tactics for LE
 

With an increase in anti-law enforcement sentiment, there has been an increase in police ambushes.  As the violence against police continues to grow, United States law enforcement officers need to be prepared to defend against these types of threats. Domestically, ambush style killings of police are up 167% (USA Today, 2016).

In this course, students will learn live fire tactics to defend against multiple types of vehicle and pedestrian ambush attacks. This course was designed for all law enforcement officers who are concerned about ambush tactics. This includes all local, state, and federal officers.

bulletFTO Academy for Probation Officers


The Probation FTO Academy (3-5 day course) will teach current or potential Field Training Officers (FTO) the necessary information on how to become an effective FTO.  This is a probation job duty oriented course.  Topics during the academy include Liability, Ethics, Leadership and how to be a good trainer.  Additionally, students will learn how to properly supervise and evaluate trainees during the field training process.  Scenario based learning and other hands-on methods of teaching will be introduced as well.

bulletIdentity Theft & Organized Retail Crime
 

Identity theft and retail crime is rampant in California. These offenders often get sentenced to probation. This class will teach students how to look for items that are used in identity theft and organized retail crime rings and operations. This information is especially necessary during probation searches and overall supervision of these types of offenders. Topics include card skimmers and readers, hotel key uses, false identification, counterfeit documents, and computer scams. Additionally, current crime trends, tools used, and the infrastructure of an organized retail crime group will be discussed. Students will also be able to use a card skimmer and see firsthand how easy it is to obtain private information.

bulletLow Light Combat Tactics
 

Most officer involved shootings occur in low light conditions.  Therefore, this two-fold course of live fire and simulated munitions will teach law enforcement officers advanced tactics for low light operations.  Students will learn the pros and cons of different lighting techniques.  Additional topics include flash and move drills, backlighting considerations, and offensive action lighting.  Then, these techniques will be employed during low light scenario based property searches, building clearings and combative situations.  A handheld tactical flashlight is required.  A weapon light is acceptable; however, students must also have a non-weapon system flashlight.  This course is designed for semi-auto handguns.

 

bulletNarcotic Trends for Probation
 

This course was used as a model to teach other Probation and Parole Departments throughout the United States on how to train their staff regarding narcotics.  The instructors are now offering this sought after course to all California Probation Departments with Armitage Tactical Group.  Students will handle and manipulate simulated drugs for identification purposes and to understand rituals and usage.  Other topics include: personal use versus sales, the spiritual world of drugs, paraphernalia, behavior characteristics and symptomology.  The class will be delivered with an emphasis on probation supervision and tailored for the region where the class is held.

bulletOff Duty Combat & Home Defense
 

Off Duty Combat and Home Defense is a training for officers concerned about off duty engagements.  Students will learn concealed carry combat tactics for on and off duty.  ATG will also teach students how to defend their family against an attack while at home.

 

Other topics include deciding when to intervene or be a good witness, engaging multiple attackers, safe room set up and proper safe room defense.  All necessary range gear, a cover shirt and 350 rounds of factory handgun ammunition is required.

 

 

 
bulletOfficer Involved Shooting (OIS)

 

 

Students will be introduced to multiple officer involved shootings (OIS) and case studies.  Instructors will thoroughly breakdown OIS incidents and examine officer tactics, mindset, and the physiological and psychological responses that occur during an OIS.  Additionally, the instructors will present vital Pre-OIS and Post-OIS information and resources. Other discussion topics include the Peace Officer Bill of Rights, Justifiable Homicide, Officer Statements and Possible Liabilities.

bulletPrison to Probation AB109: Field Safety

 

 

Field safety tactics and proper pre-planning techniques for Assembly Bill 109 (AB109) transitions are the primary topics covered in this course.  Officer safety training geared towards a more criminally sophisticated probationer is an obvious necessity for all California Probation Departments.  In this course, students will learn how to develop a thorough probation field contact operational plan for arrests, searches and compliance checks.  Additionally, students will learn how to recognize pre-conflict indicators, tactical positioning and other safety techniques to deal with potential problems occurring with structures, individuals, and vehicles (4 hours).  ***This course combined with "Prison to Probation: Search & Seizure" makes a full 8 hour course on officer safety and field tactics for unarmed or armed Probation Officers.

All California Probation Departments are going to need to adjust their training in order to safely handle the influx of criminally sophisticated parolees being released to each county.  In this course, students will learn officer safety tactics for increased security when conducting Assembly Bill 109 (AB109) prison to probation 4th amendment waiver searches (person, residence, and vehicle). Additional topics include the Fourth Amendment, target briefing, help from outside agencies, knock & notice, pat-downs, handcuffing, protective sweeps, non-probation cohabitants, and securing evidence (4 hours).  *** This course combined with “Prison to Probation: Field Safety" makes a full 8 hour course on officer safety and field tactics for armed or unarmed Probation Officers.

bulletSurveillance for Probation
 

This course will teach students how to conduct a safe and successful surveillance. Surveillance is a tool for probation officers to gather intelligence for pre-planned arrests, monitor probationer compliance, conduct address verifications, and assist other law enforcement agencies during “spotter” operations.  Static, pedestrian, and vehicle surveillance will be discussed and employed. Students will need a department vehicle for every 2-4 officers during the practical portion of the class. Emerging surveillance techniques and equipment will also be discussed.

 

bulletTactical Lifesaver Course
 

This course is for armed or unarmed law enforcement officers. Students will learn tactical life saving techniques during an "officer hit" situation. Officer survival and crucial medical tactics will be taught.  Basic hands on medical training coupled with force on force field scenarios are the foundation of this course.  After the course, students will be able to properly and confidently deploy the contents of a basic trauma kit (tourniquet, trauma dressing, gauze). bulletTactics, Rescue & Extraction (T.R.E.) - Live Fire Course
 

This high intensity course will teach students tactics for officer rescue, extraction, and withdrawal. Additionally, students will practice tactical lifesaver techniques for an officer down situation. This course has four stages. Stage 1: "Live Fire" Assault Package, Stage 2: Officer Rescue and Tactics Package, Stage 3: Tactical Lifesaver Package. bulletWeapons ID and Safety Course
 

This is a 4 or 8 hour course with a classroom only requirement.  This course will teach students weapon identification and safety.  Students will learn how to handle and make “safe” multiple weapons that include handguns (semi auto, revolver), rifles (full auto, semi auto, bolt action, antique), sub-machine guns, shotguns, and other commonly discovered weapons.  Additionally, officers will learn how to identify multiple types of explosives.  Students will also learn firearm nomenclature, replica / simulated weaponry, and chain of evidence considerations to reinforce proper field handling.

bulletWeapons ID and Safety II - Advanced

 

This is the sequel to the original Weapons ID & Safety course.  The advanced course will give students a more thorough look into weapon identification and safety.  Students will learn more on firearm nomenclature and the inner workings of a handgun, shotgun and rifle.  Additionally, students will have more in depth instruction and increased time to personally handle each weapon.  A heavy focus will be given to manipulating multiple types of concealable handguns, commonly used shotguns and popular semi-auto rifles.  The objective of this course is to give the students more confidence and knowledge to handle and render safe multiple types of weapons commonly discovered in the field (4 hours).

 

bulletWeapons Law, Identification & Firepower Demo
 

This is an 8 hour course with classroom and range requirements.  This course encompasses three objectives.  The first portion of the course is dedicated to weapons law.  Students will gain a basic understanding of California law pertaining to possession, shooting, concealed carry, manufacturing, gun-free school zones and storage.  Secondly, students will handle weapons and learn how to make these weapons "safe" when discovered in the field.  Weapons include handguns (semi auto, revolver), rifles (full auto, semi auto, bolt action, antique), sub-machine guns, shotguns, and other commonly discovered weapons.  The third portion of the course includes a range demonstration.  Students will be introduced to different weapon systems, loads and calibers during a firepower demonstration.  The firepower demonstration helps students understand how "cover" and "concealment" can change depending on the weapon system or caliber being fired.
